Vaginal Mesh Kits Complications: Vaginal Pain / Painful Sex
Patients receiving transvaginal mesh surgery for cystoceles and rectoceles may present postoperatively with pain in the vagina during or not during intercourse. Any patient who has pain in the vagina without engaging in intercourse will most likely also have pain during intercourse. However there are many patients, which do not have pain in the vagina until the engage in intercourse.
In theory the pain is due to the tension on the mesh created by one of two factors:
- 1) Either the doctor placed the mesh too tightly.
- 2) The mesh scarred in to tightly. It is the tension on the mesh, which seems to be responsible for producing inflammation and pain.
